Planning Your Highland Adventure

A little preparation goes a long way. Here are our top tips for a smooth and memorable journey.

Best Time to Visit

While the Highlands are stunning year-round, the best time to visit is typically from May to September. During these months, you'll enjoy longer daylight hours and warmer weather. However, be prepared for 'four seasons in one day' at any time!

Getting Around

Renting a car offers the most flexibility for exploring remote glens and villages. Major roads are well-maintained, but be ready for single-track roads in more rural areas. Alternatively, scenic train journeys and a network of buses connect the main towns and cities.

Accommodation

The Highlands offer a wide range of places to stay. Choose from cozy Bed & Breakfasts (B&Bs), self-catering cottages, traditional hotels, or campsites. It is highly recommended to book your accommodation well in advance, especially during the peak summer season.
